Our Story

VARNIKA  ·  A PERSONAL TOUCH FOR EVERY GUEST AT YOUR CELEBRATION

Tambulam is one of the oldest gestures of gratitude in Telugu culture — a handful of betel leaves, coconut, haldi and kumkum, and something sweet, offered to every guest as a blessing on their way home. Ammamma did it this way. Her ammamma did it this way.

What goes into a thambulam

Every element in a thambulam carries meaning passed down through generations:

  • Betel leaves (vethalai) — Lakshmi, Saraswati, and Parvati are said to reside within the leaf. Longevity, vitality, and truth.
  • Areca nuts (pakku) — Strength, stability, and lasting relationships.
  • Turmeric & kumkum — Purity, prosperity, and marital bliss.
  • Fruits & coconut — Abundance, completeness, and happiness.

Passed with both hands to every sumangali as she leaves your home after a wedding, baby shower, half saree ceremony, or festival — not as a parting gift, but as a blessing carried forward.
